December 5. Got my lids done!!!

Summary Week 11

1.My favorite discovery was Youtube. I'd never attempted to use it before. I doubt if it would be useful at work, but I have plenty of video clips that I would love to share with friends and family.
2. Lifelong learning goals are broadened. I already knew that we're constantly learning new things when helping patrons find answers to their reference questions, but we need to always be exploring the new and fantastic technology offerings.
3. I enjoyed the presentation by David Lee King on staff day and have his RSS feeds plus many more very useful feeds regarding technology. This was an unexpected takeaway.
4. More detailed instructions or descriptions of the links and what they do would improve my learning experiences. Otherwise, we need more time. There were several programs that I couldn't use because I wasn't sure what they would accomplish and because there wasn't enough time to explore.
5. I would participate in another program if given more time.

Download Library: I've used the Download Library quite extensively for audios and love it. I have an MP3 player and it holds 6 books at least!

Online Applications Week 9

.... as opposed to many Microsoft or Mac products which can't open documents created by another product, the online applications allows all persons or groups to collaborate easily. Google's docs is somewhat limited, but usable. I haven't found a need to use the google spreadsheet.
I still find Technorati useful to look at the latest technical developments. Most of the other items on the 2.0 list are quite useless to me.

"Cat in the Hat" (more Week 3)

Ladybug started wearing her "hat" when she was just a kitten! One Christmas we noticed her walking around with this cube-shaped box that holds a single ornament and had four holes in it. As you can see, she continues to enjoy this pastime. The original banged-up and taped-up box finally went to the wastecan... (but not until I modified and reinforced similar shaped boxes).

Our Dukie doesn't appreciate her though. She loves to ambush him while wearing this "hat". When she follows me around the house with it on; the swish and click of the cardboard bumping against things, sometimes gives me the creeps. She doesn't always stalk us; sometimes she'll just crouch there for quite a while like she's invisible.

Thank God she doesn't wear it all the time!!!

PS When I learn how to add movies, I'll post a movie of her in action!!!

Week 2 New Technologies and Family!!

TWO YEARS AGO.....
Great-grandson Ethan was born on June 18, 2005.... When Lakes Library opened!!
Grandson Scotty was born on August 13, 2005!
Great Grandson Preston was born May 31, 2007!!!
And a new great-grandchild is due next March (but from a different granddaughter!! )

I'm still working on several technology puzzles.

One puzzle is solved; how to transfer sound recordings from analog cassettes to disks.

Flicker is my next challenge.... then RSS! I want to be adept at adding movies too. Also I want to take pictures of the library.
